Nihang Commander
Akali Phula Singh led the fearless Nihang warriors of the Budda Dal and served as Jathedar of the Akal Takht from 1800 to 1823. He commanded thousands of Nihang Singhs in the defense of the Khalsa Panth.
Guardian of Gurdwaras
He reformed and protected Gurdwaras across Punjab — from Harmandir Sahib to Anandpur Sahib. Known for his deep seva, he organized Kar Seva with over 100,000 pilgrims at Harmandir Sahib.
Shaheed of Nowshera
He attained shaheedi (martyrdom) on 14 March 1823 at the Battle of Nowshera, charging the enemy on elephant after being wounded, refusing to retreat — a true Shaheed of the Khalsa.
Budda Dal Akali
The Budda Dalis the oldest group within the Nihang Singh Khalsa — a sacred order founded under Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The name “Budda Dal” refers to the elder, seasoned warriors and scholars entrusted with protecting Sikh shrines and preserving Sikh traditions.
In 1733, Nawab Kapoor Singh Ji formally divided the Khalsa into two groups: the Budda Dal (veteran warriors) and the Taruna Dal (younger warriors). The Budda Dal became the spiritual and martial backbone of Sikhism.
This Gurdwara is dedicated to continuing that living tradition of Shastar Vidya, Seva, and Simran.
