Who We Are
A House of God Open to All
Gurdwara Shaheed Akali Baba Phula Singh Ji stands as a beacon of the Budda Dal Akali tradition — one of the oldest and most revered orders within the Nihang Singh Khalsa, established by Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
Rooted in the legacy of Shaheed Akali Baba Phula Singh Ji — the great Nihang commander, Jathedar of the Akal Takht (1800–1823), and a fearless defender of the Khalsa — this Gurdwara carries forward his spirit of selfless service, righteousness, and devotion.
Located at 1331 Section St, Plainfield, Indiana 46168, we serve the Sikh community and all of humanity with open doors, free langar (community kitchen), daily kirtan, and year-round seva. We are open 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM, 7 days a week. Everyone is welcome — regardless of faith, background, or origin.
“Sarbat da Bhala —
May all of humanity prosper
and be in peace.”
Our Mission & Values
Seva · Simran · Sarbat da Bhala
Langar Seva
Free vegetarian meals are served to every visitor without distinction of religion, caste, or background. Langar is the living expression of equality and community.
Kirtan & Nitnem
Daily recitation of Gurbani and Kirtan keeps the Sangat connected to Waheguru. Morning Nitnem, evening Rehras Sahib, and Kirtan Sohila are observed every day.
Gurmat Education
We run Punjabi language classes, Gurbani reading sessions, and Sikh history programs for children and adults to keep the heritage alive for future generations.
Nihang Tradition
Rooted in the Budda Dal Akali tradition, we preserve the martial and spiritual discipline of the Nihang Singhs — Shastar Vidya, chola, and dastar bandi.
Community Outreach
We partner with local organizations in Plainfield and the greater Indianapolis area to feed the homeless, support new immigrants, and build bridges between the Sikh community and the wider city.
Open to All
Our doors are open 6 AM to 9 PM every day of the year. No matter who you are or where you come from — you are welcome at Waheguru's house.
